Francesco Scognamiglio – Milan S/S 11 ‘Rock-à-Porter’

Francesco Scognamiglio celebrated his label’s tenth anniversary this year, & doing so he created a collection that he feels is "a celebration of my traditions". To celebrate this grand occasion, Francesco chose Milan’s historic Loggia dei Mercanti as the venue & hired a notable international PR company to run the show taking the heat off of Francesco, allowing him to enjoy the occasion.
The new range; "Rock-à-porter", as Francesco puts it, includes stylish & intricate designs mixing classic and vanguard.
With a colour palette consisting of: black, white, champagne and animalier prints with hints of purple/blue mixed in; as well as a large range of fabric manipulations & techniques creating a new & exciting look, this seasons range was bound to be fabulous! The large volumous collection involves; transparencies, slim dresses, mini dresses, ruffles, high necks, voluminous skirts, pussy bow blouses, sheer blouses with sequins, silk gazar and lace trimmings.
As expected from Francesco, the high quality of fabrics used for his master pieces, such as; silk, organza and embroidered latex, simply accentuated the look expressing the degree of elegance and subdued sexuality.
For the presentation of the collection Francesco used a simple floor-based runway which stretched right around the room & the models were styled as high class courtesans with simple hair & make up to allow the audience to focus solely on the garments.

Francesco’s tenth anniversary collection was greatly inspired by the splendor of Versailles Opera Hall: the complex architectural detail translated into a highly sophisticated collection that  the audience.
As you may well know, Francesco has his own unique flare for designing, & that same flare has been applied to his new collection in the form of over sized ruffles, transparent clothing; which attracts a great audience from all different corners of the earth. However the most well known of his audience are people like; Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Anna Dello Russo.
This fantastic celebratory collection wowed us all will remain to do so for a long while yet. Congratulations Francesco Scognamiglio & happy anniversary!
